ASTM Testing Information

SaferWood treated lumber, plywood, and siding has been tested to be in compliance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standards:

1) E-84: Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials

2) D-2898: Standard Test Methods for Accelerated Weathering of Fire-Retardant-Treated Wood for Fire Testing

3) D-143: Standard Methods of Testing Small Clear Specimens of Timber

 
   

The Western Wood Preservers Institute published a summary of fire tests for wood roofing, lumber and plywood in March 2002 entitled "Fire Tests for Pressure Fire Retardant Treated Wood" (Download PDF) as well as an excellent description of how treated wood resists fire in "Focus on Pressure Treated Fire Retardant Wood Products" (Download PDF).
